A backronym is a phrase whose initials spell a word. Each round, flip a prompt and a word, then come up with a backronym that fits the prompt.

Take turns pitching yours to the table, and sell it like it’s already on the letterhead. Then everyone votes for their favorite, and the winner keeps the word card.

Flip, think, pitch.

A typical game sequence Begin. Flip a prompt and a word. Think of a backronym. Stuck? Yes: cut a letter, it costs one point, then think again. No: pitch it with a straight face, then the table votes. Did you win? No: discard the prompt and flip again. Yes: keep the word card and add its points. Twelve points? No: discard the prompt and flip again. Yes: win. 1. [STEP][01]

      Flip

One prompt card and one word card, face up in the middle of the table. Everyone gets the same two.

    2. [STEP][02]

      Think

Come up with a backronym for the word that fits the prompt: a phrase whose initials spell the word. No pens, no timer. Keep it snappy.

    3. [STEP][03]

      Pitch & vote

Go around the table and pitch your backronym, and sell it like it’s already on the letterhead. Then everyone votes for their favorite. You can’t vote for yourself.

    [SCORING]

The winner takes the word card and keeps it. The number on the card is their score. Then discard the prompt and flip new cards for the next round.

    First to 12 wins.

    [ONE][MORE][RULE]

    Cut a letter
Stuck? Drop one letter from the word. Costs you a point if you win.

    [EXHIBIT][A]   [A][ROUND]

Say it like you mean it.

Here’s a prompt, a word, and two pitches for the same three letters. Only one of them gets to keep the cat.
